Fallout 76 Skyline Valley Release Date, Trailer, Story

A new map and story expansion known as Skyline Valley is coming to Fallout 76. After several improvements and a lot of hype, it’s safe to say that the game finally reached the heights it aspired to when it first launched back in 2022. Bethesda did its part to throw in new content and make significant adjustments to the game for a better playing experience. Fortunately, the developers weren’t blinded by success and are still actively trying to satisfy the player base.

Fallout 76 Skyline Valley Release Date – June 2024

Bethesda revealed earlier this year that they plan on launching Fallout 76 Skyline Valley sometime in June 2024. This gives newer players more reasons to play the game and older players to return to Appalachia.

As of the moment, players with the Steam version of the game can participate in the Public Test Server (PTS). It’s not entirely perfect yet but the expansion is already playable in the PTS. Steam players simply need to install “Fallout 76 Public Test Server” to participate in the limited-time event. Keep in mind that the player’s game progress won’t carry over in the PTS. Additionally, the Atomic Shop won’t be available. The server is purely for testing out the new expansion.

Trailer

There isn’t necessarily a trailer for Skyline Valley, however, Bethesda did release a preview video. In the clip, Creative Director Jon Rush briefly explained what’s in store for the upcoming expansion. Rush showcased what the new portion of the map looked like, where it’ll be located, and what is specifically within the vicinity.

Rush revealed that Skyline Valley will be in the southern part of the map within the rolling hills of the Shenandoah. Not only will players get a new location to explore but there will also be new storylines to unravel.

Skyline Valley is special because the area won’t have the typical wasteland setting in most of Appalachia. The new area is a menacing location eclipsed by a vile electric storm wherein players can easily get struck by thunder. Exploration won’t be easy, especially when adventuring alone. It’s also worth mentioning that there will be area-specific events.

Last but not least, Rush also mentioned that his team is aware of players wanting more spots to establish their camp. Fortunately, despite a dangerous electric storm covering the majority of the location, there are some spots where players can place their camp.

Story

With a new storyline coming players’ ways, one might ask what’s in store in the new expansion. Fallout 76 Skyline Valley takes players on an adventure to Vault 63. It’s an active vault with dwellers residing in it. But instead of people living there, it’s mostly infested by Ghouls. However, players don’t have to worry about fighting a hoard of the undead as these Ghouls aren’t hostile.

Once players find their way inside the vault, they’ll eventually stumble upon the overseer known as Hugo Stolz. Before becoming a Ghoul, Stolz was a former member of the board of Vault-Tec Corporation. Hugo is one of the newer types of Ghouls known as “The Lost”. These undead creatures are electrified versions likely due to the electric storm surrounding Skyline Valley. However, The Lost are known to fend off outsiders from taking over their territory. With that in mind, Stolz is a friendly yet grumpy variant of the electrified Ghouls.

As players progress through the story, they’ll have the option to either befriend or betray Stolz. Players will have six story quests from him wherein they’ll have time to think whether they stand by Hugo’s values or not.

Other New Content Coming to Fallout 76 Skyline Valley

With an update as big as Skyline Valley, it’s almost impossible not to have additional content on top of the map expansion and new storyline. Having an ongoing PTS, players revealed other new content coming to the game. Readers should keep in mind that this is only a fraction of what’s to come. More details regarding the expansion will likely come out when the update launches in June.
