One of the greatest Raiders in franchise history passes away at the age of 86
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders have a saying within their franchise: Once a Raider, always a Raider. That saying is for everyone, but it resonates even more deeply when we think of the enduring legacy of players like Jim Otto.

But it especially applies to players who have had a great deal of success with the franchise, guys who are standup people and players. You must embody what it means to be a Raider, on and off the field.

The Raiders of old were that way, and some in this new era are, too. But we see it most from the older generation of Raiders. One guy who showed that the most was the center, Jim Otto.

In saddened news, we learned on Sunday that Otto passed away at the age of 86. Of course, our thoughts are with his family.

Otto was "the original Raider," as he played for the dominant teams during the 60s and 70s. He also played in every game during the AFL era and was one of the best centers to ever play the game, earning 12 All-Pro seasons.

Double zero, as they called him, will never be forgotten, and it is one of the most important parts of the history of the Oakland Raiders to date.
